Chains For Wishes Doubles Tournament August 4th, 2012 – IT’S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS!!

Join us on Saturday, August 4, 2012 for a full day of “Bangin’ the Chains for Wishes Mountain Style” at Richmond Hill Disc Golf Park in Asheville, NC. In the 6th installment of this incredible tournament for the Make A Wish Foundation put on by Applebee’s and the WNC Disc Golf Club, James Mayfield and Chad Smith have raised the bar my friends! Registration is now open and it’s time to get your team signed up. We urge everyone to get in early, as we filled much quicker last year than ever before. We are limited to 45 teams, 90 player’s max, so save your spot by registering today at any Applebee’s or on the WNC Disc Golf Association web page using paypal! For those who have played in the tourney before, we don’t have to tell you how good this day feels inside. We raise money for local Western North Carolina children with a single wish. A wish granted is the fuel for these kids life! It’s simple, but yet more powerful than any of us can imagine. Sponsors get involved to help us on our quest and we are more than excited to have the support from great local and regional businesses like Innova Disc Golf, Disc Golf Association, So Watcha Want Screen Printing, Bravefriend Apparel & Design, Budweiser of Asheville, New Belgium Brewing Company, Lucky 7 Discs, Mellow Mushroom Asheville, The Orange Peel, and many others! These businesses are vital in helping us reach our goals every year and we could not grant these wishes without all of their donations and kindness. We would like to extend a GIANT thank you to all of them for their continued support in our efforts every year! We are proud to announce that this year’s tournament will be followed by the WISHJAM at The Orange Peel. A stellar night of music with very special guests ANALOG MOON and the ELECTRIC OWLS! The show will be an all age’s show and doors will open to the public at 8PM with music beginning at 8:30PM. We will have a silent auction of some great items for everyone to bid on. We need the support from the local community and hope to see you on the dance floor! Please come support this life changing cause and help us grant wishes for these BEAUTIFUL children. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS AUGUST 4, 2012! JAMMIN’ FOR WISHES!!!

The Owen High Nature Trail Disc Golf Course... where the flight of your frisbee is the trail and the tee-signs and scorecards are your nature guides.
The Owen High Nature Trail Disc Golf Course was designed to get kids and families... students and citizens... beginners and pros... to think about the natural world around them while recreating outdoors. Disc golf is a fun, physical activity that is essentially a "hike with a frisbee". The Kids in Parks program combined this popular recreational activity with interpretive tee-signs and scorecards so that as people make their way around the course, they can connect with the natural features that make the Swannanoa River Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains such a wonderful place.
Set in the beautiful Swannanoa Valley, the Owen High Nature Trail Disc Golf Course is surrounded by beautiful mountain views - including a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Parkway (the most visited unit the National Park Service) cutting across the shoulder of Mount Mitchell (the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi River). At 2438', the 9-Hole course covers nearly half a mile in frisbee flying distance... and nearly a full mile of total walking distance (and that's if you throw your discs straight). Although the course is minimally wooded, the use of elevation and OB (out-of-bounds) make it challenging.
Walking a mile and exercising in nature has never been so much fun. Look for our other Nature Trail Disc Golf Courses at Enka High School and North Buncombe High School coming soon.
